Brought to us by Two Harbors Studio, the Transfigurations exhibit invites us to consider the intangible, the inexplicable, the transcendental.
In the words of the artist:
"Trans-figuration stands for images, for probings which go beyond our conventional perceptions and representations of reality but are still closely related to it."
Created in the late 1970s and early 1980s, these paintings reflect the artist's interest in the latest theories of quantum physics of that time and his experiences with transcendental meditation. They stem from his inner landscapes, with each work being sparked by particular visions, dreams and powerful illuminations he experienced.
Again, in Imero's words,
"They are works that can be painted only when the spirit soars (in real altitudes or in one believed to be real), but not when the spirit feels so limited and bound, as to hardly recognize any meaning in the very word ‘spirit."
In this body of work, deep illusions of space and otherworldly forms merge with more recognizable components such as a wave or a flow of water - elements that suggest Jungian symbols of emotions, or Heisenberg’s theory of wave to particle, particle to wave.
In many ways, this transportive collection exists outside of time. We're honored to show it to you and eager to hear what messages you receive.
